Particle Dance – a powerful improvised dance performance combining movement, music and physics in response to Particle Shrine: a stunning and immersive installation that uses light and sound to bring the hidden movements of the cosmos to life.
Particle Dance was a project that brought together young musicians and dancers from Rotherham to work with professional artists to co-create a new performance piece as part of the Signals Festival at Magna Science centre in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Commissioned by Rotherham’s Children’s Capital of Culture 2025, this was an intergenerational project involving young dancers and musicians from Rotherham, dancers from the 50+ community in Sheffield (50+ Contemporary Dance Sheffield and Dance To Health), professional musicians and research from the Particle Shrine installation. Celebrating education and arts in Rotherham and South Yorkshire, this project engaged community performers aged 12 – 76 years.
