The Garden

Today I saw the tree

I gazed at the tree that I had never seen before. It’s towering height and grandeur right in the middle of the flower bed. There it stood tall and majestic right in the middle of the flower bed, its fellow companions and faithful subjects shaded by it’s towering mass

Today I saw the tree

I had seen it before of course but I didn’t know I had. I hadn’t seen it properly. Not seen that it was right in the middle of the flower bed at the front of the garden. I sat in the garden and looked

I looked at the shape of the tree. The oval shape, wide at the bottom and thin at the top. Could I get my arms round you? I might fall in. You are bigger than I thought. If I sat on your head I would be afraid of falling to the ground because you are tall

Today I saw the tree

Why are you in the middle of the flower bed at the front of the garden? Now that I see you I can’t not see you. You stand still and tall, a wise tree in the garden. You would be the leader here. You are not the tallest but are at the front facing forwards

What type of tree are you?

I saw that you are a conifer, wide at the bottom and thin at the top. I only know what a conifer is because we used to have one in my garden when I was small. That conifer was even bigger than you and it wasn’t dark green like you. It was gold, green and yellow. The gold green and yellow conifer isn’t there anymore because it was chopped down. I hope you don’t get chopped down

Today I saw the tree and I said you are lovely

Today I saw the spider

I saw the spider from the doorway. Its black legs flashed into the corner of my eye as it darted out from under the doorframe. Is that what I thought it was?

Today I saw the spider

I lowered myself down to see you. Your black long legs and shining eyes. I wasn’t afraid of you spider. Even though I normally am. When I saw you today I wasn’t scared

How long have you been living there?

You stopped when you saw me, but you’d reached what you wanted. Did it wake you up when it crawled through your web? You were out like a flash to retrieve your prize, to spin your dinner but you stopped on seeing me. Poor dinner. If I was your dinner I’d rather not see you

Today I saw the bird

While I was writing about the tree I saw the bird. You were small and light blue and had some orange on you too. You’ve flown away now so I can’t see you

I’ll wait and see if you come back
